      BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Congratulations are pouring in from around the world since Chinese President Xi Jinping was re-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday.

      In their messages, leaders of foreign countries, political parties and organizations also expressed their confidence that the CPC, under Xi's leadership, will guide China toward greater prosperity and a larger international role.

      The following is an edited version of some of the messages.

      Malawian President Peter Mutharika, president of the Democratic Progressive Party:

      President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Joseph Kabila:
