NEW DELHI, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A 13-year-old girl was killed Monday in a bomb blast in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, police said.
The girl was wounded after being hit by the bomb at Barochandgar in Kaliganj police station area of Nadia district, about 174 km north of Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal.
Though she was rushed to the nearest hospital, she was declared dead at the hospital.
Reports said the victim was on her way home when splinters from a bomb allegedly hurled at someone's residence hit the child.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over the killing and said police will take strict action against the culprits. ■
