BISSAU, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo on Thursday signed a presidential decree dismissing Prime Minister Rui Duarte de Barros and appointing Braima Camara as the country's new prime minister.
According to the presidency, Camara is scheduled to be sworn in on Friday at the presidential palace, becoming the third prime minister appointed by Embalo since he assumed office in 2020.
Camara is currently a member of the National People's Assembly and the national coordinator of the "Movement for Democratic Alternation, Group of 15."
Presidential and legislative elections in Guinea-Bissau are scheduled for Nov. 23 this year. Analysts said Embalo's decision to appoint Camara reflects an effort to leverage his political and economic experience to foster stability and ensure the elections are held smoothly. ■
