RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo is in advanced negotiations to sign Spanish forward Chris Ramos from Cadiz FC, according to media reports in Brazil.
The 28-year-old has been identified as an ideal replacement for Brazil international striker Igor Jesus, who left last month to join Nottingham Forest, newspaper O Globo reported on Thursday.
Ramos has made 92 appearances and scored 17 goals for Cadiz since joining the Spanish club from Lugo in January 2023. His contract with the Andalusian club runs until June 2028.
Botafogo is currently seventh in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings and will meet Ecuador's LDU Quito in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 later this month.
Brazil's mid-season transfer window opened on July 10 and runs until September 2. ■
